Meet your teacher: Tevec!

The UK’s Premier Bellydance Teacher and Performer of Turkish Origin!

Tev, an international multi-award-winning bellydance sensation, enchants audiences worldwide with her mesmerising performances since turning professional in 2013. Specialising in Turkish and Arab oriental dances, her shows feature expert techniques and dynamic props like sword, candle tray, veils and LED wings.

“History & development of bellydance in Istanbul” – 90 minute lecture – ONLINE option available

Description: Learn how Turkish Oryantal dance has developed in Istanbul, and how history and modern performance contexts shape Turkish bellydance today!

Turkish Oryantal style & combinations – 2h dance workshop improver level and above

Description: Learn about the special Turkish style of Bellydance! Taste different combinations, with classic arm patterns and hip work to contemporary drum solo combinations and floor work. Explore the energy and attitude of Turkish style Bellydance.

Bring high heeled shoes for an optional extra challenge. You may like to bring knee pads for optional floor work.

Dancing to live drums, Tevec style! – 2h dance workshop, with live drumming by Joëlle Barker improvers and above

Description: Dance to live drum solos, with Tevec’s signature style: Fast, furious, fun!

Tevec and Joëlle will guide you through the process of dancing with a drummer, to create an exciting performance without choreography… Workshop attendees will have the option to perform a live drum solo with Joëlle at the Saturday evening party!

Turkish Oryantal Choreography – 2.5h dance workshop improvers and above

Description: Learn an oriental stage choreography to use as a basis and understanding for the Turkish style.

A classic Turkish show format includes entrance with veil/zills, taksim, floorwork, zills (optional), finale. A good follow on from the combination workshop.

Bring a veil, and finger cymbals. And for an extra challenge, bring heels!

Introduction to modern Roman Havasi – 2h dance workshop all levels

Description: Finish the weekend on a high note, with this powerful social dance straight from the streets of Turkey!

You’ll explore typical Roman styling that’s fresh and trendy in 2026, dance to the latest Roman Havasi music and familiarise yourself with gestures and the essence of Turkish Romani celebrations.

Learn to confidently count the 9/8 rhythm and dance to it with fundamental footwork patterns.

Venue details & travel/accommodation

Our workshops will be held at Parr’s Wood High School in East Didsbury, south Manchester. The school is a short walk from East Didsbury railway station, and from East Didsbury metrolink tram station. There is free parking available on site, and there are several hotels and a supermarket within a few minutes walk.

Getting to East Didsbury

  • From Manchester airport – take a direct train from Manchester Airport to East Didsbury (~15 minutes)
  • From central Manchester – take a direct train from Manchester Piccadilly to East Didsbury (~15 minutes), or take a pink line metrolink tram from Manchester Victoria to East Didsbury metrolink stop (~40 minutes)

Getting to Station South

If you are going directly to the Saturday evening party from Parrs Wood, I would recomment taking a taxi, as there is no direct public transport link – but it is only around 15 minutes drive.

From Manchester city centre or from Stockport, you can get directly to Station South either on a 192 bus (get off at Crayfield Road stop), or on a local train to Levenshulme (around 5 minutes walk from Levenshulme railway station to Station South cafe)

Station South does not have car parking, however, it is normally possible to find on street parking nearby within a few minutes’ walk.
